Octocon is the Irish National Science Fiction convention.

This year we're running online-only FOR FREE on Friday 9th, Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th October 2020.

Friday: 20:00: Brave New Words Award, presented by Starburst Magazine, followed at 21:00 by comedy panel 'Don't Get Me Started'
Saturday: 10:45 (Opening Ceremony) to 22:00 (+ social time)
Sunday: 10:00 to 18:30


This year Octocon is running online-only.

Registration on Twitch is only required if you want to join the chat or ask questions of the panelists.

Registration on Discord and acceptance of our code of conduct are required to access the Zoom link. A Zoom account is not required but you may need to register for the programme item.

Workshops will not be recorded.
Registration for the workshops is required. A Zoom account is not required.

Once you have joined our Discord server, there is a 10 minute waiting period before you can interact with the rest of the server. Please use this time to read our Code of Conduct. Once the 10 minutes are up, click the 👍 at the bottom of the post to accept the Code of Conduct and enter the con.


Discord text channels will be available for 1 hour after each panel and talk for further discussion. Participation of the panelists or speaker is optional.

The text channel for fan chats will generally open 30 minutes before and close 2 hours after the video chat.
